Healing from the habit of fear and remembering my inner light
Hyper vigilance teaches us to protect ourselves, but sometimes it also keeps us from shining. This reflection explores what happens when we stop seeking safety in the world around us and start trusting the light within.
Facing the Woman in the Mirror
It was so much easier to blame my hyper vigilance on the world.
After all, I could see and hear the dangers everywhere β stories of harm, betrayal, loss, and pain.
The world often felt unpredictable, unsafe, and cruel.
But then I learned a simple truth:
When I want change, it has to start with the woman in the mirror.
Thatβs where transformation begins.
The Inner World of Vigilance
As I began to step out and let my light shine, I realized that hyper vigilance wasnβt just ruling my outer world β it was ruling my inner world too.
I was afraid to be myself.
The habit of seeking cues from others β to know how to act, how to speak, how to fit in β had taken over.
It was as though I had lost the on and off switch for being authentically me.
Deep down, I knew I came into this world equipped with gifts and abilities meant to make a difference.
But each time I tried to take a bold step toward authentic expression, the sirens of fear went off.
The Lie That Dimmed My Light
I had to face the lie I once believed β that it isnβt safe to let my light shine in the darkness.
But maybe Iβve been wrong about the darkness.
Maybe darkness is simply the absence of light β not an enemy, but a space waiting to be illuminated.
And maybe, just maybe, the darkness Iβve feared all along has been waiting for my light to shine.
Embracing My Light
So now, Iβm learning to embrace my own light β through self-love, through acceptance, through grace.
Itβs not a one-time revelation; itβs a daily practice.
Every day, I remind myself to trust the process.
To believe that grace will meet me wherever I am.
And that even the smallest flicker of light can push back the deepest shadows.
β¨ Perhaps the greatest healing comes when we stop hiding from our own light and let it shine β gently, bravely, unapologetically.
π« If this reflection speaks to your heart, share it with someone whoβs learning to step out of fear and shine in their own unique light.
